About Permethrin Soap 1% W/W

Permethrin Soap 1% W/W belongs to the class of medications known as a pesticide that fights against parasites like lice, mites, and their eggs. It’s mainly used to treat lice and scabies, which are common in children aged 5 and older. Lice infestations, especially on the scalp, spread through head-tohead contact. Scabies, on the other hand, is a skin condition caused by mites and is spread through physical contact. 

Both conditions cause itching and rashes, with the itching being more severe at night. Permethrin Soap 1% W/W eggs, lice, and mites. It releases chemicals known as pyrethrins, which act on the nervous system of the parasites. This chemical inactivates the nerve membrane, paralyzing the insects and eventually leading to their death. Additionally, it can eliminate the nits and eggs of the microorganisms. 

Directions to Use

• This soap contains permethrin 1% medication, so it is best if it is used as directed by a healthcare specialist.
• Before applying it, wet the skin or affected area, then gently apply the soap to the infected area. Avoid contact with sensitive parts including eyes, mouth, and nose.
• After applying it to the infected area, let it remain there for at least 5 to 10 minutes, this will ensure maximum effect.
• Follow the instructions given by the healthcare professional, for the duration and application regimen.
• To avoid the spread of infection, wash your hands always before or after applying it.

It is safe when used as directed by healthcare professionals and does not cause any side effects. However there are some common side effects, but usually, they do not require medical attention and resolve on their own as the body adapts to it.
